Bergen welcomes over 15,000 new students each year to UiB, HVL, NHH, BI and other institutions. Freshers’ week in mid-August is the city’s biggest social event, with events spread across the city — from Nygårdshøyden and Kronstad to Sandviken.
Most freshers’ events are free and open to all new students. Kvarteret (Norway’s largest student-run cultural venue) is a natural meeting point, with Hulen, Garage and the new Student Centre nearby. Many events are alcohol-free.
